Joy To the World

10" x 8"  watercolor on Arches 140# paper    $150.00  matted and framed

Just between you and I.....

Even though I see snow and shadows outside today, I feel silken poppies and blue vapor.  Something in the chilly sun filled atmosphere plays on my senses.  It's cold!  Brrrry even.  But it's bight and cheerful too, announcing joy,  and it makes me feel like singing Christmas carols.
So I will!
Remember in grade school how we learned "Silent Night",  "Joy to the World", and "Oh Come All Ye Faithful"?  Those songs are embedded in my brain and forever give me hope for you and for everyone.

Breakthrough

10.5" x 14"  watercolor   SOLD

There is so much blue in the sky and so much light in the sunlit clouds that I can never decide where to stop and start.  I love our world and sort of imagine the mysteriousness.
This was a late evening shot from my back deck. Now it looks like an early evening shot from somewhere else.
I really enjoyed making the clouds and mountains float and disappear against the sky horizon.

Wooly Face

7.25" x 10.75"    watercolor    $125.00

Dear lambs,

My sheep know My voice.....knowledge puffs up but love builds up......He leads me in green pastures.....

We wander, we get ourselves in ruts and guess who gets us out of the ruts?  He moves us to a part of the pasture where there are lots of good things to eat.  I know who he is, because he has always been my shepherd.  Because of Him  I sleep in peace.  I am one of His many lambs and my Father loves me best!

The Cleansing Wave Froth

18 x 24"  acrylic on deep canvas   $350.00  sea

Hi everyone!  Do you enjoy the sea?  The sound of the crashing waves, the roll back and wet sandy beach, the feeling of salt spray on your body?
This is a very spiritual, cleansing painting.  A bit abstract, a bit contemporary.

Every drop, every splashy frothy blast of sea foam comes down in seconds.
Beady eyed crabs, mussels,  and tiny crustaceans grab on tight to their rock of choice.
Water is powerful.  Water is the sign  of the holy spirit at baptism. We die to ourselves and become clean of heart and Jesus' child forever.
We experience this tumultuous life at times, forgetting that it is okay to let go and let the waves wash us again, bury us and let us float, sputtering to the top with a new life and forgiveness, joy, and grace.

Bright Forest

4" x 12" each on deep canvas    oil    $99.00 each or al three for $250.00

A happy salute to all my friends!  Stand tall and raise your arms in the air and breathe the freshness of fall, floating leaves and kids jumping in crunchy piles of earthy gold.

This year my tulips are planted and covered with chicken wire so that they don't become squirrel food and I am hopeful that they will bring Springtime joy in 2014.  Can you believe it?

These happy paintings are covered with heavy oil paint and slightly abstract because you cannot really decipher a leaf!  However you get the idea of warmth at the end of October.  I love my aspen trees so much with their gorgeous paper bark, scarred,  as of someone came by with a charcoal stick and scribbled on them.  Do you think it was the mysterious"Banksy"?

Einstein in Blue

10" x 14"   watercolor    $60.00

Hi everyone!
Thanks for your patience and joy!

Don't you just love this familiar wizened face  and white fuzzy disheveled hair copied from a Time Magazine cover?  Gotta love his amazing creations and dedication.   Can't we all get sort of dowdy when we are impassioned by the work being done?

I have  been recuperating from my 3rd retina detachment since Dec., but it cannot keep me from dreaming about you and thinking  magical creations in my mind.

If you need to know anything about the operation for yourself, please let me know.

A Winding Stream on Colorado Highway 131

16" x 20"  oil on canvas  $600.00

While returning from a fun camping trip at Trapper's Lake, we had a blowout!  Yikes!  This beautiful scene was beside us where we stopped and the man who lived directly across the road on a 17,0000 acre ranch came over to help us.  He was really strong and sooo kind.!  He took the spare tire from our car and replaced the blow out in no time.  I do think I saw some wings on his back!
We followed him to his football field sized "garage" to put air in the spare tire and that was another adventure.  He was one of those gentle and interesting characters that you only read about in books.  In the huge garage were stalls  for horses and cows, a huge wood workshop, several vehicles and a float.  How could we thank him?
He did not want money.  He was just a good Samaritan and we were fortunate to meet him.
I may have to send him a painting of the ranch, eh?

Sea Path

16" x 20"  oil on canvas  $600.00

Sea Path is painted in the footsteps of Vicki McMurray.  The colors are scrumptious  and the palette knife has skipped across the pre painted brown landscape.  This was a really fun painting because it is so bright and zig zaggy.  Rich golds and deep neutral greens  play off the pinks and mauves.  Thanks Vicki for your simple instructions.  I am off and running now, mixing an awesome palette way before I lay any of it down has made all the difference!  Way fun!

Mr. Rabbit is a ball of fluff sitting in the sunset.  The golden colors wash over him, and the purple shadows surround him softly.

Betsy's Sunflower

7" x 10.5"   watercolor    SOLD

Betsy came to my class today and we both painted her beautiful sunflower.  I loved the lyrical intensity of this flower.  Thank you Betsy!  My own sunflowers are taking their sweet time, but at least there are succulent evenly designed buds on top of the giant stalks and leaves.  I can be patient.  Of course that is the good thing about nature. We have no choice but to be patient, for the fruit comes when it decides to come.  Now if I could learn this with other parts of my life.  Buy at auction on daily paintworks.com

Dove For My Love

11" x 7"  watercolor  $50.00

In scripture a dove descends on Jesus during his baptism.  I have had a dove pass before me a couple of times.  Once when my mother passed away, and once when I needed reassurance.  So I wanted to dedicate this dove to my hubby.  He always take good care of me and his family, and he loves me.  Also to the children that we love so much.  They are the pride and joy of our lives.  And then to our grandchildren who carry the Kennedy legacy.  OMG we love them sooooo much!  Maybe they carry our burdens, but they also carry our faith, which is so much more important.
We could not take one breath without our Savior, the Holy Spirit!

Old Car Chuggin' Along

16" x 20"  oil on canvas  $400.00

Taking a ride on an old dirt road in the beautiful Colorado scenery in the days of old flivers was a treat.  Gas was cheap, roads were bumpy, and exhaust was not measured, but the allure of discovering great beauty in the good old summertime was difficult to ignore.  You can almost see the fishing poles and flies being cast after they reach Trapper's Lake.

Prize Rooster

12" x 20"  watercolor   $125.00

When we lived in Scotland, one of my neighbors was showing me her prize roosters and chickens.  I cannot remember the type this one was, but he was gorgeous, and when she told him to "get up there" in her wonderful brogue, he just hopped up on the bench!  I was really surprised, but delighted to have such a "cocky" bird to photograph.

Krystal and the Carousel

11" x 14'     acrylic       SOLD

Krystal was little and just about 4 years old when she was riding this carousel with white horses and glittering lights and up and down music.
My grandkids are adventurous, talented, and beautiful inside and out, but as you can see this small one was a little bit afraid.  Her huge brown eyes were twice as big as usual and she was holding tightly to the brass pole.
It was at once a thrilling ride and and a gripping ride.  When she was finished she wanted to know which horse won, and if she could ride again.  Ahhh the first thrills and chills.

Into the Woods to Sing

6" x 6" x 1"   acrylic painted on all sides  $60.00

This little robin sings when she finds worms for her babies and sings when she is telling her love how much she cares about him. We should do the same.  When we cook we should sing.  And when we want to show our loved ones affection, we should at least hum a little ditty over them.  Can you imagine how that would make them feel?  I know I would like it, because my mom used to sing to me and it made me feel very loved.

Last Light

30" x 30"    oil   $800.00
In the last light of day, the American eagle, a symbol of freedom, ceremoniously surveys his kingdom, a desert sanctuary.  Generous golden light passionately kisses every edge, transforming the harsh landscape before putting it to bed.  Gooddnight eagle.  Goodnight desert.  Thank you God, for the symphony of color.

“Dusk is just an illusion because the sun is either above the horizon or below it. And that means that day and night are linked in a way that few things are there cannot be one without the other yet they cannot exist at the same time. How would it feel I remember wondering to be always together yet forever apart?”

Six Sheep at Dawn

7.5"  x 11"   watercolor   $50.00
On this glorious morning waking up is so easy.  A morning jog under the the rosy sky
is exhilarating.    This is a quick composition, simple and loose, but effective.  Sometimes a juicy wash is all that is needed.

Kansas Sheep Farm

11" x 15"  watercolor  $125.00

I have composed this painting from 5 Kansas photos.  It has been a really fun challenge, and will eventually become a full sheet of w/c paper.
I love painting sheep and clouds.  It is a calm and peaceful scene which is what my client sees every day. The next painting will have spottier Kansas clouds, and tall grasses.
I sure hope it will look pretty with the beautiful quilt she has made.

Five Sheep Running

11" x 6"         watercolor        $45.00

I have been working on combinations of colors for a client and making small paintings to send as a trial from the color combos she sent me.  It will eventually be a full sheet w/c hung to complement her quilt.
I will make a couple more of these loose washes, and I am itching to begin the real painting.

Delta's Legacy of Orchards

16" x 24"  oil on canvas  $450.00

When I visit my brother in Cedar Edge, Colorado, near Delta, on the Western Slope,  I get all nostalgic.  My Mom and Dad and my brother and his family moved there in the 80's.  My Dad was a builder and wanted to build his home there, but instead got multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer) and was never able to fulfill his dreams.  Instead he remodeled a nice trailer home, knocking out walls and building a carport and back porch before he passed away.  So Mom lived there for about 9 more years until she passed away.  The countryside was so lovely, especially in the Spring and Mom wrote poetry about the scenery, the people, the  animals, the cares and woes.  There are still many apple orchards and peaches in the area and it is abundant with natural peace.
Make certain you purchase some fresh picked peaches there.
