Waterstone

14" x 11"  watercolor  $399.00

Frozen waterfalls and softly falling snowflakes.  Time and growth ceases.
The woods are listening and groaning, pondering as Mary did the ancient seeds that are to become new life in the spring.  For now we can breathe the nippy frost and be refreshed in the mintiness.

Amzing Autumn

Autumn comes on wings of golds and red.  Slender stalks of aspen shoot skyward and their branches perform a graceful dance of joy.

Sentinal

9" x 12"   watercolor  $250.00
My aunt Claudine had Irish Setter show dogs.  This Irish Setter reminded me of her.  The fun part is that when we used to visit her,  this "show dog" was her baby and would sit on her lap while she knitted.  His front legs would be on the floor.  My aunt was, artistic, and talented and her meals were always delicious.
She believed in me and taught me to knit when I was 8 years old when everyone else thought I could not learn how.

Naturally Inspired by the Sea

From beginning to end, this painting bewitched me.  I loved every minute of the detail, the waves, the colors and the serenity it brings.  Even though I a not a swimmer, the sea is calming and beautifully brilliant, a place I love to visit with family and an influence I compare with the Holy Spirit.

The Biggest Sunflower

9" x 12"  watercolor  $150.00

I set up a demo for my students, and am certain that I enjoyedd it as much or more than they did.  After they left, I decided that the bottomwas too plain, so I added some lace.  The flower was enormous and I probably should have given it a larger vase.

Colorado Grackle Morning

6" x 6"  watercolor   $90.00
Permission to paint this grackle came from my friend Jim Bensberg.  He takes great photos.
I wasn't certain what type of bird he was until I looked up blackbirds.  His wings resemble irridescent butterfly wings and his feathers shine in a bluish glow. Soak in the sun, Mr. Grackle!

Aiden

6" x 6"   watercolor  $50.00

Aiden is the handsome, adorable 11 year old son of Jones LeFae.  Jones is an archeologist and  is my son's fiance'.
Aiden is very cerebral and very sweet.  Aiden is fun and funny.  He hangs out with Jack, my son, loves animals and onions and is an excellent student who plays soccer and enjoys the computer.  I know he has a fantastic future.

Clean as a Robin's Whistle

6" x 6"  watercolor  $50.00
The birdbath is as necessary for a robin as it is for us.  After swimming they preen and put on their fine frocks and flit throughout the garden to entice their lover and to escape their obligations for awhile.....that is....until their ravenous chicks cry out for food.

Glorious Season

4" x 12"    acrylic    $150.00

A trip last Sunday to the mountains provided so many gorgeous autumn views and there were crowds lining the winding roads making memories.  As we wound back home darkness was beginning but somehow the aspens still held their glow.  Irrisistable!

Mosha Day 30 of the 30 day challenge

6" x 6"  acrylic   $70.00

Mosha is a composite of a photo and a vision from my mind.  I consider this little boy one of the adopted lost boys from Peter Pan.  I cannot remember their names,  Mosha to me is a sweet temperament, wiling to please, and desiring to be loved.  I know some boys like that in foster care.  I pray that they feel loved, that they become responsible citizens and that for all the rest of their lives they seek God.

Meilyn Day 29 of the 30 day challenge

6" x 6"  watercolor    $70.00

When this little cutie came to live at 11 months of age,  from China, with our son and his wife, we had no idea of her potential.  Meilyn's greatest desire and all her efforts go into being a professional ballet dancer. She works many grueling hours a day perfecting that goal.  She is home schooled  and taking honors classes, and is also a joyful, grounded young woman every minute of every day.  Another granddaughter that is completely bathed in our love.

Helen Hunt Falls Couple

6" x 6"  watercolor   $70.00
A darling couple at Helen Hunt Falls who allowed me to take this amazing photo.
They were so relaxed,  enjoying the falls and adding color and harmony to the scene.

Butterfly Ears Day 27 of the 30 day challenge

6" x 6"    watercoolor    $70.00

Kahlua is deliciously tiny, but has a substantial personality and ears! She makes certain that the house is safe, that her food is not bothered, and that she gets plenty of rest. Her humans coddle her and her brother and cannot imagine life without her.

Yellow Slicker Day 26 of the 30 day challenge

8.5" x 10"  watercolor  $200.00

At the Garden of the gods Visitor center this handsome man in a yellow slicker was helping people find their way around.  It was a rainy day and all the colors of the rocks and foliage were soft foggy colors except for this tall rock of a guy.  He brightened the day.

Chasing Bubbles

19" x 14"  colored pencil   $400.00

This was a moment of victory, blowing the giant bubble in the air for many minutes. Love these youngsters who enjoy competition  Dad couldn't do it, and neither could anyone else.  Snatch the moment while you can!

Krystal's Eyes day 24 of the 30 day challenge

6" x 6"   watercolor  SOLD

Krystal is my first granddaughter.  She is now 27 years old and and actress in Hollywood.  When she was a baby she had enormous brown eyes and a tiny face.  She was always curious, loved to be the center of attention, and we loved giving it.  Krystal is so humorous.  She imitates anyone she meets and exaggerates their speech, colloquialisms, and mannerisms.  She is quite sharp witted and sarcastic, diminutive, adorable and has a monumental heart.  She has gone through some tough times in her short life, but is able to elevate those times to humor.  I respect and love  her so much and am so impressed by her massive courage.
and I just adore her and never get enough time with her.

Babe in the Leaves day 23 of the 30 day challenge.

6" x 6"  watercolor   $50.00

My second attempt at this little blond head.  I made her face larger, (better for my  eyesight), and put less shadow on her face.  It is better I believe, and I won't paint it again real soon, but I so enjoyed getting her to look like a baby, that I probably will do her another day.  Thank you Nancy Wylie for loaning me your granddaughter's photo!

Bathed In Light

6" x 6"   watercolor      $50.00

I asked Nancy Wylie for permission to paint her precious granddaughter.  She graciously said "yes".  This is my first renditions of this little one, however I don't feel I captured the innocence.  But I did capture the light, which was important to me.  It seemed that no matter how many times I layered color on the face it wasn't dark enough  Now it may be too dark.  Oh well.  It was worth the try and loved the exciting process.  Maybe I will take one more stab at it.

Taylor In Sunshine

6" x 6"  watercolor SOLD

I had to depict Taylor in sunshine because that is her personality!  She is the most lighthearted, gentle, cheerful granddaughter who knows how to listen, prepares great food, is and supportive when you need help. She contributes to her basketball team and swimming as well.  Taylor does have  a serious competitive, creative  side, but would rather hang out with family and friends and bring comfort where needed.  I love to relax with this fun girl!

Sam the Man Day 20 of the 30 day challenge

6" x 6"  watercolor  SOLD

My handsome grandson Sam is no longer a child.  He is making decisions about school, friends,  and life.  He is a hard worker, loves to be funny, to tease, and is an extremely caring person with a warm and gentle personality.  He is athletic, strong, loves to climb and is daring.  I  love him so much.  When I make paintings of my loved ones, it is as if they were once again babies, and I can look closely into those beautiful eyes, almost smell the baby sweetness, and dream about a safe and productive future for them.

Dandy Girl Day 19 of the 30 day challenge

6" x 6"   watercolor   $50.00

The name, "dandelion" is a mispronunciation of the French name dent de lion, which translates to “tooth of the lion”.  This refers to the dandelion’s leaves which are serrated and look much like teeth.
When dandelions turn to fluff, however, children, animals and wind can take credit for spreading their lovely seeds which are so expertly sandwiched into the base of the stem.  I always marvel at seed heads and seed pods.  Take them apart yourself and you will find that they are ever so perfectly tucked in and ready for us to spread them into our garden.  Amazing!

Girl Picking Grapes Day 18 of the 30 day challenge

6" x 6"  watercolor    $60.00

Selecting succulent grapes from the vine for her family, in Tuscany, Italy, on the Pevina farm, she not only looks for that particular color and size, she checks the fragrance and taste.  How amazing that so much  ado has been made about grapes and healthy vines.  We all know that apart from the vine, our branches will not bear good fruit.  I am now finished with day 18.    I am happy.

Girl in Paper Hat Day 16 of the 30 day challenge

6" x 6"   oil   $70.00

At a fair in downtown Colorado Springs, CO. the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society helped attendees make wonderful paper hats in 2012.   Children and adults scribbled on their hats and shaped them around hat forms.  The result was genuinely stunning.  This little girl was gorgeous in her sun drenched hat.

Lauryn in canary and blue ...day 14 of the 30 day challenge

6 x 6  oil SOLD

Lauryn is another one of my precious granddaughters who loves all animals.  I can only imagine how they must feel when they are tenderly cupped in her sweet small hands.  She speaks words of love to them and delights at their movements.  This little heart is kind beyond words.  I will bet you know a child like this.
