This small but exquisite painting was begun as a demo in one of my Wednesday morning classes and finished later.
When painting from a photo, you have to imagine the roundness of that head.  This little one has wispy hair that attracted me to paint her, using some masking and some negative space to achieve this look.  The best thing about working from a photo is that it doesn't move, and you can still be as creative with it as you wish.

Lauryn is another one of my precious granddaughters who loves all animals.  I can only imagine how they must feel when they are tenderly cupped in her sweet small hands.  She speaks words of love to them and delights at their movements.  This little heart is kind beyond words.  I will bet you know a child like this.

Remind me to never paint this small again as I cannot see properly to do it. Took longer than necessary for sure!
 I photographed this with indoor lighting. It is not as yellow as this. I could not resist the climbers liveliness. Everything about her said sweetness. She was back lit, so the shadows on her face were pretty dark.

Raggedy Bunny Dreams

The affection of a little girl is like no other. All her dreams, and activities are protection for those she loves.  She will love, rub raw, pet, feed, wash, dress and undress her object of love and sing songs. She will play house, take to bed, show off, and make sure that this loved one is warm.  She will take him or her everywhere.  This is something I hope little girls never grow tired of, because someday some special person will want to be loved by her sweet charms.

Under the drifting clouds this shy young girl dreams of dancing.  Her feathery hair and clothing are touched with a hint of copper and she is adorned with flowers and stars and fantasy, and so am I.

Little girls love horses so much!  This painting was done from a photo sent to me by a friend.  To be in the fresh meadow, wearing pink boots, and laying on the back of her warm mare in the sunshine is a sweet everyday memory.
