Springtime Cache

21" x 29"  watercolor matted and framed  $1050.00

How do you know when spring arrives?  Is it the small soft green buds forming on the branches,  or is it the small baby animals that suddenly begin to appear on the landscape?  I have to admit that Spring is my favorite time of the year because of hope...anticipation...delicate colors...play of light...and newness.  I painted these trees, nest and eggs with that thought in my mind.  How do birds do it?  They just get so excited making the nest for their lovers!  How sweet to know that love is in the air everywhere.

Silver Moonshine

11" x 14"  oil on canvas  $125.00

Whooo would you expect to find in your tree tonight? My friend found this owl posing in a tree!  Happy chance!  I wish I were such a good photographer.  Of course I had to add the silvery moon to go with his character and slide some silvery blue under his handsome feathers of white.

"Girl in Yellow Skirt"

5" x 5"  oil on deep canvas $40.00

On a cheerful day, Laura dips her feet into the sparkling lake, relaxing with her poetry.
She shuns the laptop, and the ipod because she loves the feel and smell of bound books, especially when they come from her grandpa's library which she has loved since she was tiny.

Stars. Sails and Sea

8" x 10"  watercolor, acrylic, and rice paper on 140 # Arches

On a failed painting, I attached some Japanese rice paper and began adding color a little at a time until something clicked.  First I thought this would make a fluffy kind of bird, but quickly decided it was a stormy sea with a sailboat confronting the waves and water.   It is not exactly the type of painting I usually do but I like it.  I like the colors, the shapes, the texture and the illusive thought that it is pretty non representational.  The conception came with the doing....kind of backwards from planning a carefully thought out composition. It will be available tomorrow June 15, 2013, at the demo at Dale Street Cafe

Lime Ice

8" x 10"  watercolor  $100.00

I am back from sleeping over a foam box for 6 days while we had visitors.  This was after an operation for a detached retina.  I had no pain, just restless boredom and achy bones from leaning forward so much.  The doc says the retina now looks good! My hubby was my nurse...a formidable but always kindly there, nurse.
So for the winter scene, set in periwinkle and lime with white, coolness has set in.  It is time for skiers and snowshoe buddies to take their cue without me.  I am such a chicken when it comes to cold and speed.  Just let me cuddle in a warm blanket and observe while cradling a hot cup of cocoa.
