"OCCA Howler"

There were 6 of us, including Lori Watry.  We all painted or created something entirely different and I would have shown you, except my camera battery wore out.  We created and successfully raised money for Bancroft Park.  It was a cool, windy day, and we were under the tents together.  Many people came by and admired our work and bid on it in a silent auction.  There were also 40 food vendors with delicious samples.This painting was created using a photo from a Coldwater Creek catalogue.

Sugar Sherbet Snowfall

Some time ago I had seen the sun shining through the evening clouds with the brushy limbs and the ancient  tree stumps at the bottom of the trunks and always thought I should paint that scene.  When my students wanted to learn snow, I remembered the scene and thought, why paint blue snow?  Let's get creative.  I had so much fun planning this peaceful painting.  I let the spirit of the painting come through, and challenged and delighted myself.  Notice the repetition of shapes and colors.  What would we do without repetition?  Just think of our cells, the grass, bricks and hair.  How about learning?  Repetition is sooo important.

Even in the winter warm barren golden weeds line the river like a woolen scarf.  A small lone wooden barn near the base of the mountains shelters livestock. Oh glorious day!

Our favorite holiday is tomorrow!  Over and over we thank God for our beautiful family and friends.  We thank Him for their smiles that warm our hearts, for their eyes that sparkle with health, for their goodness to others, their gentleness and kindness, and for their listening.  They are like a soothing rain on my soul, and sunshine on our backs.  They are like rainbows that color our lands.  These are our treasures.

"Angel and Winter Roses"

Angels spend some of their precious time bringing color to the winter landscape, by strewing roses on the crisp white snow.  Then they waft away and wait for the collectors to come and exclaim in surprise over the treasure they have found.

A blocky snow scene and passionate colors keep this painting from becoming too cold, although I don't think I will travel there.  Makes my nose tingle though.  Yeow!

"Colorado Reflections"

On the way home from Grand Junction, I stopped to photograph this amazing scenery.  The trees and red soil reflecting in the frigid icy water.  Clean and pristine the snow was like a blanket hiding the scars of the land.

They are at once serene and peaceful yet also dramatic and stunning.  I am  wondering if a snowy owl or a snowshoe bunny would be appropriate in these woods?
