Bunnies are abundant this year.  They are beautiful and they sure do love my plants, as do the deer.  I keep planting and trying to have some color, but flowers and berries and lettuces have their attention.

Bright Forest

A happy salute to all my friends!  Stand tall and raise your arms in the air and breathe the freshness of fall, floating leaves and kids jumping in crunchy piles of earthy gold.  

This year my tulips are planted and covered with chicken wire so that they don't become squirrel food and I am hopeful that they will bring Springtime joy in 2014.  Can you believe it?  

 These happy paintings are covered with heavy oil paint and slightly abstract because you cannot really decipher a leaf!  However you get the idea of warmth at the end of October.  I love my aspen trees so much with their gorgeous paper bark, scarred,  as of someone came by with a charcoal stick and scribbled on them.  Do you think it was the mysterious"Banksy"?

Sea Path

Sea Path is painted in the footsteps of Vicki McMurray.  The colors are scrumptious  and the palette knife has skipped across the pre painted brown landscape.  This was a really fun painting because it is so bright and zig zaggy.  Rich golds and deep neutral greens  play off the pinks and mauves.  Thanks Vicki for your simple instructions.  I am off and running now, mixing an awesome palette way before I lay any of it down has made all the difference!  Way fun!

In Pevina, Italy at a generational Italian farmhouse, we were priveleged to stay for 2 nights in the original home.  It was hot and sunny, but the owners were filled with grand hospitality.  Their vineyards supplied the wine, their hogs the meat.  The spaghetti, olive oil, and sauce were all home made.  They invited all their relatives, children, the locals, the police chief and the pregnant family dog.  We spoke no Italian.  They spoke no English, but we can never forget the joy of the meals and the beauty of the land shared.

Country Dancin' in the park.  When some teens were out causing problems, these fresh faced young ladies were entertaining the crowds of picnickers and those out for a great day to feed the ducks and play frizbee with the kids.

On Monday before my demo everything was perfect.  Sunshine, light and shadow, and ....oops...I forgot my paper towels and my paints.  What to do? There was a nice sturdy flat rock to put my pallet on which did have some paints leftover and I did have some thinner, so I decided it was enough to capture the essence in a loose manner.  Boy it was hot!  Later after returning home I finished the painting with a good photo.  You cannot beat Colorado for beauty!

"Overcast Day at Garden of the Gods"

The plan was to execute a demo at a paintout in the Garden for a group of 18 women.  However we all hurried into the Visitor Center across the road for refuge from the pouring rain and a quick overview.  The visitor Center allowed us to huddle and then rearrange ourselves until noon in the dining area where we had a perfect but foggy view of the Garden.  After the demo, some folks moved on to Miramont Castle to paint indoors. Eight hardy souls put on raincoats and brought their equipment out under the eaves of the Visitor Center where we painted for another couple of hours.  Smiling faces and fantastic paintings ensued.  I wish I had the photos of all of the paintings.  I did get the 8 ladies, however! We all later met up with the rest of the group and I painted a portrait demo for everyone.  We were all pretty exhausted afterward, and happy!

"JFK"

Stacy, my daughter in law, has chickens that lay Easter eggs!  Really, they are that colorful and boy do I hate to crack them.  I just enjoy staring at them in the light filled kitchen.  They taste yummy too.

On the way home from Grand Junction, I stopped to photograph this amazing scenery.  The trees and red soil reflecting in the frigid icy water.  Clean and pristine the snow was like a blanket hiding the scars of the land.

I woke up in a sunlit room and lace curtains filled with the fresh fragrance of an Italian village farm.  Mezmerised, I took a quick shower, got dressed and ran down the road to snap as many photos as I could, deliciously savoring the sun and shadows.  This buttery road, led to the vineyard.  The direction behind me led to the olive groves.  Was I in heaven?  Fresh vegetables, hand pressed olive oil, cheese, pasta, and home cured prociutto were lunchtime specialties!

"Romantic Mediterranean Couple"

Couples throughout eternity have found engaging and lovely places to fall in love.  This is a warm scene, with an open door.  You can still smell the lingering fragrance of a delicious Italian repast.  He will bid farewell for the evening and can barely wait to return tomorrow, bringing a small box and a trinket of his affection.

"Three Faces of Eve"

I imagined Eve with three personalities and looks.

So these are 3 separate paintings, but I took the photo with them all together.  This is a composite of loveliness, not at all pretentious or mean hearted.  On the other hand there is innocence lost by listening to the wrong voice.  We must protect the preciousness of our children by helping them to understand that they must make decisions based on wisdom, not on what "looks" good or on a lying promise of "wealth, knowledge or power".
