Waterstone

14" x 11"  watercolor  $399.00

Frozen waterfalls and softly falling snowflakes.  Time and growth ceases.
The woods are listening and groaning, pondering as Mary did the ancient seeds that are to become new life in the spring.  For now we can breathe the nippy frost and be refreshed in the mintiness.

A darling couple at Helen Hunt Falls who allowed me to take this amazing photo.
They were so relaxed,  enjoying the falls and adding color and harmony to the scene.

Yellow Slicker Day 26 of the 30 day challenge

8.5" x 10"  watercolor  $200.00

At the Garden of the gods Visitor center this handsome man in a yellow slicker was helping people find their way around.  It was a rainy day and all the colors of the rocks and foliage were soft foggy colors except for this tall rock of a guy.  He brightened the day.

Krystal's Eyes day 24 of the 30 day challenge

6" x 6"   watercolor  SOLD

Krystal is my first granddaughter.  She is now 27 years old and and actress in Hollywood.  When she was a baby she had enormous brown eyes and a tiny face.  She was always curious, loved to be the center of attention, and we loved giving it.  Krystal is so humorous.  She imitates anyone she meets and exaggerates their speech, colloquialisms, and mannerisms.  She is quite sharp witted and sarcastic, diminutive, adorable and has a monumental heart.  She has gone through some tough times in her short life, but is able to elevate those times to humor.  I respect and love  her so much and am so impressed by her massive courage.
and I just adore her and never get enough time with her.

Babe in the Leaves day 23 of the 30 day challenge.

6" x 6"  watercolor   $50.00

My second attempt at this little blond head.  I made her face larger, (better for my  eyesight), and put less shadow on her face.  It is better I believe, and I won't paint it again real soon, but I so enjoyed getting her to look like a baby, that I probably will do her another day.  Thank you Nancy Wylie for loaning me your granddaughter's photo!

Bathed In Light

6" x 6"   watercolor      $50.00

I asked Nancy Wylie for permission to paint her precious granddaughter.  She graciously said "yes".  This is my first renditions of this little one, however I don't feel I captured the innocence.  But I did capture the light, which was important to me.  It seemed that no matter how many times I layered color on the face it wasn't dark enough  Now it may be too dark.  Oh well.  It was worth the try and loved the exciting process.  Maybe I will take one more stab at it.

Girl in Paper Hat Day 16 of the 30 day challenge

6" x 6"   oil   $70.00

At a fair in downtown Colorado Springs, CO. the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society helped attendees make wonderful paper hats in 2012.   Children and adults scribbled on their hats and shaped them around hat forms.  The result was genuinely stunning.  This little girl was gorgeous in her sun drenched hat.

Yellow Braids...Day 2 of the 30 day challenge

12" x 9"  watercolor   $135.00

Young ladies love to create their own style, whether it is bohemian, classic,  ultra feminine,  beachy,
cosplay, dramatic, culture or country.  I am enamored with their delicate features, beautiful skin, eyes that sparkle and hair that can be tossed, straight, curly, short, braided or buned.  I adore their spunk, their desires, their strengths and poise.

Thinking Caps

Today I don't have any art to post, but I will soon, I promise.  I just had a small thought that you might like.  I am encouraging all of you to paint any thing with a hat.

We must put on or thinking caps because the youngsters already have   Let’s see, instead of” “thinking caps”, we can put on a “Striped Violet Chapeaux.” How’s that?  Yes, we have still got it!  Think colorful and elongated.  Think cerebral and cloudy.  Think animated and silly.  Think pastoral and serene.  Think outlines and space.  Think shrouded and mysterious.  Have fun.  Why be ordinary?  I challenge all of us to blow the world away with the art we fashion.

Maybe you would rather make something with stripes or bubbles.  Just so that it is original.  What could you put a hat onto?  How about a squirrel, a worm, a toaster, an orange, a tree stump.  Make it comical, or serious.  It doesn't matter, as long as you decided to do it yourself!

Next post it to my reveille kennedy facebook page and we can all have a vote on the best, the silliest, the most beautiful or the scariest.  Let's see, that is 4 winners.  The winners will have one pick of any 8 x 10 print of my paintings.  The contest will end on Feb. 26, exactly one month from today.

Have fun and have a great day, my creative friends

I will repost all artwork to this blog.

Krystal

15" x 14"  w/c  not for sale

Krystal is one of my beautiful granddaughters, in fact my first grandchild.  Krystal is an actress and a comedian with huge brown sparkling eyes.  I love her funny sense of humor, especially when she gently imitates me or someone else she knows.  She is bright and imaginative and has a hearty laugh. You always feel comfortable around Krystal because she cares about you and you know it.  I love her with all my heart.

Hi my cute elves,

Just say the word and you can pay by pay pal and I will happily get it beautifully wrapped up in a sturdy box, complete with  padding and sen it to you. I had so much fun putting in all the little surprise puzzle doodles just for you and I know you will love them too.  This painting will be hanging at Cottonwood Gallery in Colorado Springs through January.

Einstein in Blue

10" x 14"   watercolor    $60.00

Hi everyone!
Thanks for your patience and joy!

Don't you just love this familiar wizened face  and white fuzzy disheveled hair copied from a Time Magazine cover?  Gotta love his amazing creations and dedication.   Can't we all get sort of dowdy when we are impassioned by the work being done?

I have  been recuperating from my 3rd retina detachment since Dec., but it cannot keep me from dreaming about you and thinking  magical creations in my mind.

If you need to know anything about the operation for yourself, please let me know.

A Winding Stream on Colorado Highway 131

16" x 20"  oil on canvas  $600.00

While returning from a fun camping trip at Trapper's Lake, we had a blowout!  Yikes!  This beautiful scene was beside us where we stopped and the man who lived directly across the road on a 17,0000 acre ranch came over to help us.  He was really strong and sooo kind.!  He took the spare tire from our car and replaced the blow out in no time.  I do think I saw some wings on his back!
We followed him to his football field sized "garage" to put air in the spare tire and that was another adventure.  He was one of those gentle and interesting characters that you only read about in books.  In the huge garage were stalls  for horses and cows, a huge wood workshop, several vehicles and a float.  How could we thank him?
He did not want money.  He was just a good Samaritan and we were fortunate to meet him.
I may have to send him a painting of the ranch, eh?

Dove For My Love

11" x 7"  watercolor  $50.00

In scripture a dove descends on Jesus during his baptism.  I have had a dove pass before me a couple of times.  Once when my mother passed away, and once when I needed reassurance.  So I wanted to dedicate this dove to my hubby.  He always take good care of me and his family, and he loves me.  Also to the children that we love so much.  They are the pride and joy of our lives.  And then to our grandchildren who carry the Kennedy legacy.  OMG we love them sooooo much!  Maybe they carry our burdens, but they also carry our faith, which is so much more important.
We could not take one breath without our Savior, the Holy Spirit!

Six Sheep at Dawn

7.5"  x 11"   watercolor   $50.00
On this glorious morning waking up is so easy.  A morning jog under the the rosy sky
is exhilarating.    This is a quick composition, simple and loose, but effective.  Sometimes a juicy wash is all that is needed.

Kansas Sheep Farm

11" x 15"  watercolor  $125.00

I have composed this painting from 5 Kansas photos.  It has been a really fun challenge, and will eventually become a full sheet of w/c paper.
I love painting sheep and clouds.  It is a calm and peaceful scene which is what my client sees every day. The next painting will have spottier Kansas clouds, and tall grasses.
I sure hope it will look pretty with the beautiful quilt she has made.
