All the Trees of the Field Will Clap Hands

10" x 14"  watercolor, collage, ink    $150.00

As often happens, one idea gets squelched and another emerges when painting.  When this painting looked sad and
wimpy, I added the collage with used, shredded dryer sheets and glued them onto the lower part of my painting.  After it dried I added more color everywhere, brightening and darkening, introducing colored pencil.  This painting took on a whimsical life, so gold and silver specks and scripture were added.

When I relax on my porch in the autumn evenings and the aspen tree leaves are quaking, they sound like thousands of little hands clapping.  I love that sound.  Often scripture from Isaiah 55:11 -12  comes to mind

11So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. 12"For you will go out with joy And be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands

The Cleansing Wave Froth

18 x 24"  acrylic on deep canvas   $350.00  sea

Hi everyone!  Do you enjoy the sea?  The sound of the crashing waves, the roll back and wet sandy beach, the feeling of salt spray on your body?
This is a very spiritual, cleansing painting.  A bit abstract, a bit contemporary.

Every drop, every splashy frothy blast of sea foam comes down in seconds.
Beady eyed crabs, mussels,  and tiny crustaceans grab on tight to their rock of choice.
Water is powerful.  Water is the sign  of the holy spirit at baptism. We die to ourselves and become clean of heart and Jesus' child forever.
We experience this tumultuous life at times, forgetting that it is okay to let go and let the waves wash us again, bury us and let us float, sputtering to the top with a new life and forgiveness, joy, and grace.

"Poppy Shower"

12" x 12"  oil on deep canvas SOLD

I really love the rain and way sunshine comes through the clouds onto the landscape and touches the leaves and petals of some flowers and letting the clouds mist out the other foliage.  Just the mere fragrance of rain makes me happy.  To me rain is a metaphor for baptism...refreshing our ground, renewing the heart, and giving new strength  to our roots.

I'll Love You Forever

13.5" x 20"  watercolor $450.00

Little girls love their horses and the warmth of their skin and their soft breath.  Children like to feel in charge and when the horse is gentle she doesn't seem to mind.  In fact she seems to love the comfort of children. The little colt is simply observing and learning.

"The Sharecropper's Wife"

12" x 21"  watercolor matted and framed   $450.00

Her back is aching. She has bent over the crops in the hot sun all day long and still has to catch the chicken for dinner.  She is young and hardy and beautiful underneath her headscarf.  Her children help when they can, but she wants to make certain they get an education first.  Her vegetable garden is filled with lots of greens, beans, root veggies, potatoes and herbs.
