Enameled Chair

114" x 11"  watercolor   $65.00

I am nearly a century old.  Generals, and priests have sat here.  Grandmas, and grandpas, moms and dads, kids and babies have sat here to tie shoes, to eat meals, to read, to dream, to cry.  I am not ordinary.  Books and important papers have been stacked on my seat as well as dirty garden shears and pots.  My skin is thick with coats of enamel, but I have many memories.  Beside the linen and lace curtains in this warm colored peeling room I happily save a space for the unseen guest to rest.

Two Heads Are Better in Color

11" x 14"  watercolor  $45.00  portraits

Are you serious?

The first definition of "play" in the dictionary says "play" is to engage in an activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than serious or practical purpose.  However sometimes play teaches us something very practical, and that is that everything is not always as it seems.  For instance this class demo proves that a face does not have to be painted in skin tones to look like a face.  Is value then, more important than color?
During our class we also played,  blowing paint with straws to add a little abstract movement.

Chair With Eggs

29" x 21"  watercolor   chair   still life  SOLD!

The old rocker sits with a few eggs plucked from under the hens soft warm body.  The eggs are  cleaned and placed in a white napkin.  The simpler the treat the more valuable for nourishment.  Our eyes first feast on the beauty and then we prepare to consume the provision of cooked fresh eggs.

The meadow is a pleasant place to graze.  The sheep have no fear, for they know the shepherd watches them from afar and will protect them and give his life for them.

Watermelon Chunks

11" x 14"  watercolor  still life  watermelon  $65.00

All I can think of when I see chunks of ruby red melon is the slurp factor, and chin drips.  Summer means relaxing and leaving cares behind, delighting in the sounds, shapes, fragrance and color provided by old sol.

"OCCA Howler"

8 x 10  acrylic on deep canvas  animal   wolf   dog    SOLD

There were 6 of us, including Lori Watry.  We all painted or created something entirely different and I would have shown you, except my camera battery wore out.  We created and successfully raised money for Bancroft Park.  It was a cool, windy day, and we were under the tents together.  Many people came by and admired our work and bid on it in a silent auction.  There were also 40 food vendors with delicious samples. This painting was created using a photo from a Coldwater Creek catalogue.
I have created another one and it is at Arati Gallery if you are interested.  Stop in, take a gander at all the gorgeous work, go to the Chocolate Factory for a goodie, or to La Baguette for French Onion Soup.  Yum.  You will be surprised and pleased with al that Old Colorado City has to offer!
